Thailand is a street food heaven, and Krabi is the heart of the best seafood and street food in the country.
1. Steamed Crab
If you haven’t tried steamed crab yet, this is the right place. These crabs are literally enormous, and their price is about 30 THB ($0.9).
2. Grilled Squid
A whole squid is chopped up and served with (very) chili sauce. You might want to remind the cook that you aren’t from Thailand. Saying “Less Spicy!” will be enough.
The price? About 100 THB ($3).
3. Pan-fried Octopus
The cheapest and the tastiest octopus dish I have ever eaten. It costs 70 THB ($2).
4. Shrimp Tempura
Thai people call this one shrimp tempura, but the the “shrimps” are so huge that it’s actually prawn tempura. The better news is it costs only 20 THB ($0.5).
5. Thai Grilled Fish with Chili Sauce
To be honest, before going to Thailand I didn’t believe that any fish, other than salmon, could be made more delicious with sauce. But if you like eating fish, you should try this one.
Price: 100 THB ($3).
6. Grilled Beef and Chicken Balls
There are some dishes similar to this one in every Southeast Asian country. Malaysians eat chicken/beef skewers and call it satay. In Thailand minced chicken/beef skewers are called the balls. Each stick costs 10 THB ($0.3).
7. Coconut Smoothie
A delicious summer drink that you can find at every food stall until 7 PM. For dinner, the same food stalls are converted to mini-restaurants with only dinner dishes.
8. Chocolate Pancakes
Bonus: Pad Pak Bung Fai Daeng or Morning Glory
You can have morning glory at almost all restaurants in Thailand. It’s served with garlic soy sauce.
It’s what we had instead of salad, as a side dish.
